Through printmaking, drawing, book binding, video and bio degradable material experiments Hanna Halsebakke attempts to zoom in on cycles that involves us all - as the breath, the carbon atom, the moon cycle and the hydrological cycle through animals, humans and landscapes.
...Harvest, look, dissect, crush, mix, boil until liquid ink...
Hanna seek materials which carry stories and reflects her organic motifs. Halsebakke harvest pigments, plants and minerals in her surroundings to make water based- and printmaking ink. For her working with organic material means exploring time - it is perishable and light sensitive, and Hanna embraces their decay rather than conserving them.
By looking to the smallest component of our body (the cell) and the material she works with (pigments), Hanna trys to get a deeper understanding and care for each of them. Through fiction and poetry and she enters a world where the human being and other organisms melt together.
