Julia K. Persson (born in 1992) holds an MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and a BA from Lund School of Architecture. Her work revolves around large-scale sculptures and installations, predominantly crafted from clay, ceramics, and textiles. Through abstract and figurative forms, she explores constructions - not only in our built environment but also in our ideas and thoughts. It's often when something goes wrong, breaks, or ends that her interest grows, and the work begins. By working with clay in its various stages, from wet to fired, Persson explores what different materialities can convey and express.
Persson has exhibited at venues such as Rackstadmuseet, Höganäs Konsthall, and QB Gallery, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions at places like ROM for Art and Architecture, Kunstnerforbundet, and London Craft Week.
