Nellie Jonsson

Nellie Jonsson (b. 1992, Umeå, Sweden) graduated from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts with a BFA (2016-2019) and an MFA (2019-2021) in material-based art with a focus on ceramics.

Jonsson works with ceramics, painting, and sculpture, and her figurative works communicate with an everyday tone, while unexpected compositions and elements impart a distinctive playfulness to the expression. The works reference consumer culture and daily life, capturing memories around objects in our lives that we usually do not reflect upon. They present a presence – an embrace of uniqueness and personality, as well as an understanding that memories can be created from the smallest things.
