Guri Sandvik
Guri Sandvik (b. 1957) is an Oslo-based visual artist with a background in photography who has gradually shifted her focus towards ceramics. Her practice moves between art, craft and design, with a particular interest in form, material and the possibilities of clay.
Working mainly with coloured porcelain and terracotta, Sandvik creates clean, geometric forms that combine precision with visible traces of the making process. Her work often draws on functional objects and historical vessels, while leftover clay and broken pieces can become starting points for new works.
In recent years, her practice has become increasingly sculptural, exploring the relationship between form, surface and material.
