Brit Dyrnes
Brit Dyrnes (b. 1955) is a Norwegian ceramic artist whose practice also moves across installation, performance and readymade. For more than five decades, she has developed an experimental approach to clay, continually exploring new materials, forms and processes.
Curiosity is central to Dyrnes’ work. Rather than following a fixed visual language, she allows experimentation, uncertainty and unexpected results to shape the work. Her practice often explores different firing techniques, glazes and the possibilities that emerge through working directly with clay.
Alongside her artistic practice, Dyrnes has played an active role in Norway’s arts and crafts community. In 2019, she received Norske Kunsthåndverkeres Honorary Award for both her artistic work and her longstanding contribution to the field.
