Pearla Pigao

Pigao received her BFA and MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2015 and 2017.

Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at the National Museum (Norway), Helsinki Contemporary, Soft Gallery, Atelier Nord, Norwegian Presence (Milan), Kunsthall Charlottenborg, the Design Museum Denmark, and Den Frie (Copenhagen), and many more.

Pearla Pigao (b. 1984, NO) is an Oslo-based artist, musician, and maker working with interactive sound installations that merge textiles, sculpture, and performance. With

a background in both music and textile art, her practice explores the relationship between sound and material.

By drawing parallels between weaving and musical composition, Pigao creates digitally hand-woven textiles that translate sound structures into visual and tactile experiences.

Pigao’s work is part of several significant collections, including the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consulate General in New York), The National Museum (Norway), Helsinki Art Museum, KORO, Nordenfjeldske Art Industry Museum, Sogn og Fjordane Art Museum, Vest-Lofoten High School, Sørlandet Art Museum, and the Finnish National Gallery –Kiasma.

Her work will be featured in the exhibition Rock, Paper, Scissors – Kiasma’s Collection Exhibitionfrom 14 February 2025 to 18 January 2026.

Upcoming solo exhibitions include Isca Gallery (2025), Kunstrom Jacob (2026), Trondheim Electronic Arts Centre (2026), and the Vigeland Museum (2027).
