Artist in residency: Takumi Morozumi

in collaboration with Malik & Adrian (music)

Takumi Morozumi applied for the "open call" and will be the second artist in residency in SKOG. During his artist in residence at SKOG, Takumi Morozumi will explore the medium of painting for the first time. So far in his art career he has been using ceramic as his expression. His ceramic practice has made him think about the possibilities of applying visual elements in two-dimensional forms.

Do not miss the showcase event on the 30 March at 18:00-20:00 in SKOG, where Takumi presents his art items from the residency in collaboration with the componists Malik and Adrian. Malik and Adrian are known for their composition “Stupe Kråke i Oppoverbakke”. The composition consists of amongst others “Ma Skog Gallery” and “Fuglen Free Coffee” (thanks to Fuglen for the free coffe for the artists during residency"!).

Takumi about the residency:

- My works are going to have elements that are inspired from the vast nature in Norway and these are going to be displayed with another Japanese aesthetic related to wabi-sabi called Ma. Ma, is a concept of a negative space that is often used in Japanese Sumi ink calligraphy and Japanese gardening.

- Will my paintings interplay uniquely in the same space as the sculptures and will it change the focal point from the painting to the whole exhibition space? I have many questions about this and I hope I can explore this project at SKOG

Ceramics from Takumi:

Takumi Morozumi (b. 1995) is a Japane artist based in Oslo and Tokyo.
