Artist in residency: Takumi Morozumi

in collaboration with the composers and musicians Malik & Adrian

Takumi Morozumi was the second artist in residency in SKOG from 15 March to 2 April 2023 . During his artist in residence at SKOG, Takumi Morozumi explored the medium of painting for the first time. So far in his art career he has been using ceramic as his expression. His ceramic practice has made him think about the possibilities of applying visual elements in two-dimensional forms.

Takumi about the residency:

- My works made in SKOG have elements that are inspired from the vast nature in Norway and are displayed with another Japanese aesthetic related to wabi-sabi called Ma. Ma, is a concept of a negative space that is often used in Japanese Sumi ink calligraphy and Japanese gardening.

- Will my paintings interplay uniquely in the same space as the sculptures it changed the focal point from the painting to the whole exhibition space.
